| The WGSG
was established in 1980 as a study group of the Institute of British Geographers (IBG),
the then professional organisation of academic geographers. The group's aims since then
have been to encourage the study of the geographical implications of gender
differentiation in society and geographical research from a feminist perspective; and to
encourage and facilitate the exchange of information and ideas with reference to research
and teaching in these areas.
